Overnight Flights - My Healthy Travel

Overnight Flights - My Healthy Travel

I spoke in a previous blog about Healthy Tips for Long Haul Journeys and my vlog today is on a related theme. I recently returned to Ireland from Brazil in a journey that took me 3 flights and about 22 hours. I tried to complete the long haul trip in as healthy a manner possible while also staving off any possible jet lag.

Cycling Around Ireland - Week 2

Cycling Around Ireland - Week 2

Week 2 wasn't quite as full on a week as my first week in the saddle as I took a break for a few days to attend a wedding (and to give my backside a rest), but I still managed to pedal through four days of towns, hills and scenery on the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way in the kingdom of county Kerry. I really do need to write about my experiences on this incredible trip and I will do that very soon, but for now you can enjoy the video highlights of my four days in the saddle on Week 2 of my cycle around Ireland.

Preparing to Cycle Around Ireland

Preparing to Cycle Around Ireland

This will either be the greatest trip ever or I have finally gone mad. As exclusively revealed in my last blog I’m undertaking a long bike ride around the coast of Ireland; a cycling holiday and a fitness challenge all in one. The planets have aligned and I’ve been given a window of three or four weeks to pull this off. I may never get this opportunity again so despite the short preparation period, I’m planning on taking off tomorrow.

Killarney National Park

Killarney National Park

I’m a big fan of Killarney. I’d say I’ve been to the town at least once a year almost every year of my life. My grandmother was from Killarney so it was a regular holiday destination when I was growing up. As I’ve gotten older I still love to head down south to county Kerry whenever I can to explore the amazing Killarney national park, grab a bite to eat in one of the quality restaurants and then indulge in some modest revelry in the great live music bars at night time.

Healthy Travel – Punta del Diablo

Healthy Travel – Punta del Diablo

I finished up my travel in Uruguay with a visit to Punta del Diablo, a seaside village on the north eastern coast. It took me about 4 hours by bus from Piriapolis to travel the 200 kilometres up the coast to get to Punta del Diablo. I was edging my way ever closer to the Brazilian border; Punta is less than 50 kilometres from Brazil. I just had to stop in Punta though, I’d heard great reports about the sleepy fisherman village that turns in to a vibrant hub of activity during the summer months as increasing numbers of Argentinians, Brazilians, Uruguayans and western backpackers come to enjoy the beaches, waves and laid back vibe.

Office Worker Health is 1

Office Worker Health is officially one year old! I published my first ever blog on February 18th last year. Thanks to everyone that’s read, written, commented, shared and supported me along the way; I’ve enjoyed every second of the journey I must say. The objective of the site is to promote health and wellbeing amongst sedentary people and a year on I’m even more passionate than ever about spreading that message. I’m learning more and more about health, fitness and nutrition every day and if you follow this blog then I know you are too.

Rio de Janeiro Life

Rio de Janeiro Life

It’s been four weeks since we arrived in Rio de Janeiro at the commencement of my parental leave. Upon our arrival I committed to staying as fit as possible while here and not falling into the same unhealthy traps as I had on previous visits to Brazil. So how has it been going? Well not too bad actually. Take a look at these before and after photos for starters:
