A Quick Guide to Staying Healthy at Work

A Quick Guide to Staying Healthy at Work

There isn’t one solution to staying healthy, but, rather a combination of things -- including keeping active and eating wholesome, good-for-you foods. While eating healthy and moving more might sound too difficult to do against a demanding work schedule, there are a few quick tips you can keep in mind to help you conquer both – regardless of work schedule.

Which activity is right for you?

Which activity is right for you?

Swimming, rock climbing, weight lifting, hapkido, crossfit, ninjutsu, running, cycling, football... I could go on and on citing sports I once tried, enjoyed for a while and later stopped practicing (or should I say quit, gave up?!?). What about all the equipment, clothing, shoes and gadgets bought for each sport that are now gathering dust?!? Why can't I (we) stick to the sport and keep doing it? Too busy at work, the weather doesn't help, tiredness? Excuses and more excuses!!

Anyone for Tennis?

Anyone for Tennis?

I’ve written about resistance training and running quite a bit on Office Worker Health but I haven’t really gone into too much detail on other sports and activities. That’s all about to change this week as Vanessa Boschetti discusses her passion for tennis. Vanessa has a really busy office job so I loved reading about how big a role tennis now plays in her life outside of work, both from an exercise perspective and socially. It’s clear from this article how passionate Vanessa is about tennis and I’m sure her enthusiasm will have many of you picking up a racket very soon.

Office Worker Health @ Irish Blogger Conference

Office Worker Health @ Irish Blogger Conference

I thought I’d mix things up with a slightly different blog this week. I was in attendance at the Irish Blogger Conference last weekend and I wanted to share some insights with you from that event. There were some great speakers at the conference from differing areas of expertise such as fitness, fashion, social media strategy, journalism and even veterinary practice. From my point of view it was the areas of fitness, health and wellbeing that I was mostly interested in. In this blog I want to share with you what I learned from the speakers in those areas and some of the advice and tips that they discussed.

Bad Office Habits

Bad Office Habits

I recently gave a presentation to newly hired graduates at my company on Office Worker Health. I had worked with a few of them beforehand and knew them to be a fit and healthy bunch of guys and girls so it took me a while to decide on what to speak to them about. I decided to share with them the worst habits I’ve observed in colleagues, co-workers and myself in 10+ years in an office setting.
