Cycling Around Ireland - Week 3

My incredible journey continues. I've now completed 18 days in the saddle and cycled over 1,000 kilometers since I left home. I could write pages and pages about the sights, sounds and people that I've seen and met on the trip so far. My work for the Guinness Quality Team in the evenings continues at pace in the coolest of local bars in the towns and villages where I stay. I could keep writing and I will write properly about the journey very soon but for now a video seems to say so much more. Here's my vlog from today, from Inishmore on the Aran Islands.

Never Too Late To Start

As most people will know it’s surprisingly easy to neglect your physical health to the point where it becomes more of a habit than actually trying to be healthy.  I was without question one of those people.  I had the comfort of having always been quite thin all my life, I've never had the added pressure of being overweight and feeling like I "had" to lose weight or appear healthier than I was.  The truth of the matter was that I was far from healthy.

Ireland’s National Workplace Wellbeing Day

Friday April 8th 2016 is Ireland's second National Workplace Wellbeing Day. I’ve written previously about Promoting Workplace Wellness and about how both employers and employees can play their part in promoting a positive work environment so I’m delighted to help spread the word about this event as ultimately this day represents everything that this blog is about: Promoting health and wellbeing to sedentary workers.

Healthy Travel – Punta del Diablo

I finished up my travel in Uruguay with a visit to Punta del Diablo, a seaside village on the north eastern coast. It took me about 4 hours by bus from Piriapolis to travel the 200 kilometres up the coast to get to Punta del Diablo. I was edging my way ever closer to the Brazilian border; Punta is less than 50 kilometres from Brazil. I just had to stop in Punta though, I’d heard great reports about the sleepy fisherman village that turns in to a vibrant hub of activity during the summer months as increasing numbers of Argentinians, Brazilians, Uruguayans and western backpackers come to enjoy the beaches, waves and laid back vibe.

Office Worker Health is 1

Office Worker Health is officially one year old! I published my first ever blog on February 18th last year. Thanks to everyone that’s read, written, commented, shared and supported me along the way; I’ve enjoyed every second of the journey I must say. The objective of the site is to promote health and wellbeing amongst sedentary people and a year on I’m even more passionate than ever about spreading that message. I’m learning more and more about health, fitness and nutrition every day and if you follow this blog then I know you are too.

Sticking To Your Goals

I was feeling incredibly excited and energetic at the start of the year. I’d set my fitness and nutrition goals for 2016, chief among them being my target of exercising five times a week. I was ready to hit the ground running from the beginning of January and make 2016 my healthiest year on the planet to date! It all started so well on New Years Day with a tough trek through forest, farmland and mucky trails in the hills outside Florianopolis. Nothing better to shake off the lethargy and mild hangover on the first day of the year.

13 Races in 2015

Happy new year everyone! For my first article of the New Year I’m chatting with a friend of mine, Glenn Redding. Glenn set himself a serious fitness challenge for 2015 and I hope that reading his story here can inspire others to challenge themselves in 2016. I met Glenn on an overnight bus in India a few years ago. We went on to star in a Bollywood movie together on that same trip (seriously) and as Glenn said when I was chatting to him recently “I’m still kind of a big deal in Bollywood, Brian”. Glenn hasn’t let this superstardom go to his head though and in this article he answers my questions on the fitness challenge he set for himself last year. What challenge can you set yourself for 2016?
