3. Wellbeing Goal Setting for the Office

The aim of this talk is to introduce healthy tasks into everyday routines and is based around three principles:

  • Activity

  • Nutrition

  • Mental Health

I’ll start by discussing at a high level the positive role Activity, Nutrition and Mental Health can play in the workplace even with just a little bit of focus and attention. I’ll provide examples of what other Irish workplaces are doing in these areas and I’ll then introduce goals and targets to aim for in each area. I’ll finish by suggesting some practical and fun workplace initiatives to support these goals.

2. Are You Getting Enough Exercise?

This talk breaks down the World Health Organization physical activity recommendations for healthy adults into the time and type of exercise, as well the following:

  • Exercise and Movement

  • Aerobic vs Resistance

  • Moderate intensity vs Vigorous intensity

 
 

4. The 5 Components of Physical Fitness

Attendees are introduced to a different approach to reviewing physical health and provides a framework for individual assessment and identifying areas to prioritise.

The 5 Components

Flexibility Body Composition Cardiovascular Endurance Muscular Endurance Muscular Strength

Group Exercise on the 5 Components of Physical Fitness (half or full day format only)

Individuals rate their own health across the 5 components Outcome 1: Baseline of where learner is with their overall physical fitness Outcome 2: Starting point for physical health plan clearly identified

 

5. Your Mental and Physical Health Toolkit

N.B. this can only be delivered as a half day or full day workshop and is in partnership with Professor Sarah-Jane Cullinane, Trinity College Dublin.

Workshop Learning Outcomes:

  1. To understand the nature of mental and physical health, the benefits of investing time in them, and techniques that improve them and build resilience.

  2. To reflect upon and share personal strategies and preferences for self-care
